BounceBit Chain Shutdown: BB Migrates to BNB Smart Chain After the Hack

BounceBit is permanently sunsetting its original chain after the August hack. BB is migrating 1:1 to BNB Smart Chain while trading remains available.

September 1, 2026Last updated 10:30 UTC1 min read

BounceBit’s August security incident has resulted in permanent retirement of the project’s original blockchain.

Exchange guidance says BB support is migrating to BNB Smart Chain on a 1:1 basis while spot, margin, futures and Earn remain available.

That means the token can survive economically while the original execution environment disappears.

For exchange users, the migration can be handled centrally. Self-custody users face a more complex risk: old-chain application state, smart-contract positions, NFTs and unsupported assets do not automatically migrate just because the native token has a 1:1 replacement.

The event remains Critical because permanent L1 retirement is a structural consequence of the hack.
